AIM AND SCOPE: 

The development project of human resources by education (IKMEP) aims the development of intensive employment instruction programmes, based on 5th level occupational standards, between the vocational schools andoccupational technical secondary education institutions and labor market.In this context, Electric Programme under Electric and Energy Technologies which supplies a vast employment in industrialized countries, was created by taking the sector needs into consideration.Electric sector has a continuous and dynamic change due to the conditions of market and competition. The reason for that is increase in time for work and trasportation in everyday life and concentration on serviceprocurement.As technological advancements proceed rapidly, these have been created a new sector and employment area in production. In this area, worldwide companies were emerged. Product range increased rapidly. Competition in the sector has condensed in supplying service field beside product range and quality. As a result of this competition, day by day, a more intense data usage has also been required.It is estimated that important investments are going to have in production and service network as a result of higher life standards in our country.Therefore, increase in employment is estimated.It is estimated that educated and current personnel will be needed in some occupations related to the electrical device production and servicing as a result of rapid usage of electricity in daily life at the present time.

Within the scope of these forecasts, growing qualified work force and making the present workforce as qualified people will contribute the employment as well as power of competition and efficiency.This program was developed by the teachers and lecturers at the pilot institutions, working cooperately with the members of profession and representatives of labor market, social partners, members and teachers of Ministry of National Education, members of The Council of Higher Education (YÖK) and academicians, national and international specialists, within the limits of the development project of human resources by education (IKMEP).

In the process of the program development, occupational analysis was made in labor market, the abilities of members of electric profession was determined, program content was created by the way of analysing abilities,the general frame of program was determined and documents of the program was prepared by utilizing ISCED’97 educational field classification.Developed program documents and necessary explanations has been given in this booklet.

ELECTRIC

PROGRAM DEFINITION

An associate degree program aiming academic and occupational abilities at 5th level.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

It is determined by OSYM in the directives of YOK. 

PROGRAM CREDIT

Student graduates the program by completing 120 ECTS credits.

EDUCATION PERIOD

2 years (including internship period). (Total period of the program is between 3000 and 3600 hours. This period comprises total learning time in modules).

UNDERGRADUATE AND VERTICAL TRANSFERS

Students can make undergraduate and vertical transfers in the directions of YOK regulations.

DOCUMENTATION

Diploma of associate degree is given to the graduated students in Electric Program. When the student is graduated lessons and modules which shows the student’s sufficiency are signed in the diploma supplement. If student dosen’t complete the program, a document showing the student’s sufficiency, lessons and modules is given. Sufficiencies gained by the program can be used and evaluated in passing to the other programs, in certificate programs, in career improvement and in business life. 

METHODS AND TECHNIQUES

Method and techniques aiming at gaining sufficieny, student centered, supporting personel learning in lifelong learning perspective are applied.

EMPLOYMENT AREAS

Students are employed in firms serving product/service in Electric and Energy sector and in state institutions and organizations.

INSTITUTIONS AND CORPORATIONS TO COLLABORATE

Students are directed to the collaboration with the teaching activities required in the program, to employment opportunities and planning in surrounding universities, to non-governmental organizations, to firms related to Electric and Energy Department, to trade associations and members of the profession. 

TRAINING AND LEARNING ACTIVITIES

Lectures in Electric Lesson Plan includes training and learning and internship applications under lesson modules.
